A Winter's Pursuing

A Winter's Pursuing Dec, 2009

Oats and seeds and honeybees'
fruits of labor in my bowl.
Drink Kava tea while windy breeze
blows outside my window.
It's mid December and I've frozen toes.
It's too cold for roofing.
O for wood stoves and heartwarming prose
in such a winter's pursuing.
God of embers, kindle within
more love to your dear Son.
Let not my heart get frosty cold
as December's not half past done.

Chamomile

Chamomile
3.7.09

I lie to rest in fields of chamomile.
There’s repose in calendula, and hyssop.
We are all together cleansed and purified.
As the curtains of Solomon we stand in gladness of heart.

If it were not for the Sun and the Rain,
Lilies would toil and spin.
But He will keep us in perfect peace
Whose mind is stayed on Him.

Stay our hearts, O Christ, on You.
Fix our eyes above.
“Ignite our affections like incense,” we cry
“and may its smoke ascend up as love.”

The Nectar

The Nectar 2.27.09

O God, Thy plants are an orchard,
of pomegranates and pleasant fruit.
Yea, Thy comforts are sweeter than the honeycomb.
We come with singing unto Zion,
and at the Mount of the LORD,
we pick up our harps.
Be our song in trouble, O LORD.
Harmonize our voices with your purpose, we beseech Thee.
Let Christ rule in our hearts,
and shine in our lives,
that we may sing praise to Thee.
The finest fruit, LORD, is the fruit of the lips.
We will render the calves of our lips to the LORD our God,
for He is our Orchard,
and the Nectar with all its fruits.
Praise ye the LORD.
